My system is so old it's no longer listed on the Sony website. I feel the website offers poor service and I should be able to email Sony direct, not via a forum.

My hi-fi system keeps switching itself off and going on to standby. I was playing a tape in deck B, after about 1 minute, it wouldn't play anymore, so I tried switching it to deck A. Still it wouldn't play. Deck A then started clicking and clunking and shutting the system down.

Is this repairable and if so at what cost?

I have an RDP-X30iP speaker dock and recently purchased an Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation. The RDP-X30iP is designed for the iPod 4th Generation and has a 30 pin connection. The iPod 5th Generation has a 10 pin lightning connection.

I cannot get it to function with a Lightning adapter. I have tried several different adapters. No sound comes through the dock speakers and the dock does not charge the ipod 5 with the adapter in place.

Is there a soloution?

I can't get the iPhone dock to work. When I plug in my iPhone it just says Connect in the display of the RDH-GTK11iP and pushing any buttons doesn't work either.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Sony CMTMX750NI no sound from ipod, it charges and tells me it is playing on hifi. Tried ipod universal docks, no change. It plays on my computer and through headphones in my hand. Any ideas please???? Rest of hifi is fine. Thanks

CMT-BX70DBI suddenly stopped making any noise!

Hi, I've had the CMT-BX70DBI hi-fi for about 4 years now, and it's suddenly just stopped making anything approaching any sort of noise.

I've tried resetting it, as indicated in the manual, and tried unplugging everything, plugging in headphones and trying all of the inputs/functions to see whether I could get anything to come out, but to no avail.

Any suggestions? I'd have assumed that the problem is somewhere pre-amp, but as It's plainly out of warranty, it's probably uneconomic to get it repaired, which is a shame, as I'd always previously associated Sony with durability, which doesn't appear to be the case here!

Help!! I can't get the digital radio to work on my Gigajuke? I've connected the cable up to external house aerial and screen says 'No device registered' and all I can do is close this. What am I supposed to do to get it set up so I can play it?

I have a very expensive set of BT Senheiser headphones which I discovered i can't use with my new Sony 1030 becuase and despite UK reviews it doesn't have bluetooth. Yes. I know I should have double checked but frankly I didn't expect the UK model to have this feature removed. Its such a basic thing and as many headphones are bluetooth than wired these days.

Thing is is there a BT adaptor I can plug into the 1030 to get music to my headphones ?

System Control Lead Replacement

Hi,

I have a rather old system (MHC-WZ5) and the system control flat lead ripped out when i moved it and it now needs replacing. I have had this system many years but it has hardly been used so i will be pretty gutted if i have to sling it.

Does anyone know where i could find a replacement? I have trawled the net with no success so far :

[SS-NA2ES] Floor-Stand Speaker Review

There are lots of products that are manufactured every year, but only a few can move you... And the SS-NA2ES floor-standing speakers are one of those. I missed the meetingwith those "babies" at the CES last January, so I was making sure not to miss the little demonstration Sony was doing for us in Barcelona last month. And I'm glad I attended it!

People who loves nice thing will be delighted with the Sony ES-series speakers (derived from the well famous & expensive AR ones). It is a really nice handcrafted piece of work made of thick Scandinavian birch. The first thing you notice when you look at the speakers is the finish. It is a very sexy deep, dark gloss piece of wood with grain glowing from sub layers. The cabinet looks strong and heavy. Sony's expert woodworkers made a very meticulous crafted work (both design and building) and it is pleasing to the eye and hopefully it is also to the ear =)

The SS-NA2ES is a 3-way, 6-driver, bass reflex floor-standing speaker system. The first thing that strikes you is the "6-driver"!? Is there a mistyping? Hehe The speaker is equipped with a special tweeter that Sony called "I-Array" that consists of a 25 mm soft-dome tweeter coupled with two 19 mm soft-dome super tweeters that act all together like a single tweeter with a wide dispersion.

We also have a cool 130 mm paper cone midrange design (with deliberate cut), and two nice double-drive 165 mm aluminum-cone woofers. Note that the two-way speaker construction is particular, its woofer is isolated from other drivers by two distinct separation boards to preserve the purity of the mid range frequencies. It's designed for both Audio & Home Theater use, but I can only give feedbacks on the Audio part for now.

Listening

First thing to know is that the set up arranged by Sony was not the best (last minute set due to delay for equipment shipping etc..). We were in a theater with wooden floor, speakers were drive by Sony latest AVR5800ES AV receiver (too bad it was not a musical amp =( ) and wired with basic speaker cables. HD Digital files were played through the AV Receiver USB input. The beauty of this little demonstration was that despite of the unusual environment/set up, we could undoubtfully hear the core potential of the speakers.

We had the chance to listen to different short samples and from every recording, speakers sounded clean. Bass was tight, round and quite powerful while the midrange and treble were smooth and unaggressive.

We could listen to a few selected samples and three of them were really a pleasure for the ears. The first one was from a live recording made in a studio with a japanese female singer. Speakers did flatter the female voice as much as mid-range oriented speakers would do. It was a nice balance of softness, and pure sound within the intimacy of the studio.

2nd one was also what we called a "lounge" session and If I remember well, it was Paul Mc Cartney with a solo guitar. Speakers could reproduce accurate and detailed sounds like fingers caressing and string pinching along Paul's singing that was not merge with the instrument.

Those two samples made me feel as if I was sitting at Asia Entertainment or Desert Moon studios in California for recording/mixing/mastering.

3rd one was a real track (studio recording) with a more complex arrangement. That's when the speakers showed us its depth of soundstage. Although the setting was not the greatest to experience that, we could definitly feel it. The stereo image and presence was really impressive & I could picture where were sitting all the musicians during the recording in a virtual 3D space.

Overall, I really enjoyed listening to the SS-NA2ES. Its bass and lower midrange seemed well proportioned with detailed upper midrange and "I-Array" treble that were not tiring and still sharp and precise.

Final thoughts

My only regret during this demo was that I didn't have my own music (telarc discs, sacd etc..) to listen more to those lovely speakers and test them out a bit further (especially how they handle the two opposite ends of the sound spectrum). But from what I've heard so far and despite the listening conditions I can say for sure that the SS-NA2ES have a very sweet sound, neutral and a very accurate and detailed. It is very similar to what is used in studios but suited (elegant design and more affordable price than the AR) for European homes =). Coupled with a better amp, better wires and after taking time to find correct speakers positioning, it will take your breath away!

RDH-GTK11iP LED Lights Don't Flash With My iPod

Just brought myself the RDH-GTK11iP home audio docking system, while testing it out I have found the LED lights don't flash when i use my iPod, they work fine when i use the radio and the dvd but not my ipod, the music plays fine on it, but the lights dont flash any ideas why they dont?

Hi! CDRW AUDIO. I have a large amount of irreplaceable music on CDRW AUDIO format. Recorded over the last 20 years on Sony Compact Disc Recorders (Sony RCD W100 model etc). The players are unavailable/on the way out. I thought Isobuster (with Windows 8) would do it, but - it will and it won't, I don't know why. Perhaps it's codecs? Does anyone know, please?

Has anyone had trouble connecting the ns310 with security keys? i.e. WEP or WPA? I've tried WEP 64 bit & 128 as well as WPA-PSK with no success. Using the NS software with an Ipad & having no success, it's about to be thrown out the window. The router is a Belkin on a normal network with nothing else connected?????

When I last used this system it was working perfectly. That was a few months ago. Today when I connected it up, there was no sound from it. I tried using both the tuner and CD player.

If I turn the volume all the way up to "Max" then I can very very faintly hear the music.

If I plug headphones into the unit, then everything sounds fine.

And the lights in the satellite speakers are on.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

I have a Gigajuke with 100's of albums loaded, because it take ages to find a track could I use a Walkman or similar device to locate tracks.

RDP-XA900iP wifi connection problems

I've just purchased my RDP-XA900iP and have spent hours trying to connect to wifi.

I've tried everything in the manual and no luck. I can connect other devices eg phone to the router without any problems.

I've got an Orange Livebox with WPA/TKIP security. I've tried pairing in the usual easy way. I've wirelessly connected stereo to my laptop and tried connecting that way.

Nothing will work and I haven't got a clue what to do next. I need some help before I send it back.

Problems streaming with CMT-G2

Hi,

I've just purchased a Sony CMT-G2BNiP and I'm having problems streaming music from my PC. Whenever I try to use the 'Play To' feature from Windows Media Player the little Play To window tries to connect, but eventually says "Error occurred on your device" and nothing then happens.

If I try to play music from the hi fi itself I can pick a song and it displays the funky little square processing animation - but then nothing. It just says 'Cannot play'

The hi fi is connected to my network, as the display shows my network name and I can browse my MP3 library that's on on my PC. My PC (Windows 7) also finds the hi fi, it seems, with no problems because it's there in media streaming options and the play to feature.

I had a bit of trouble initially getting the hi fi to find my network, but realised it was a setting in ESET that was blocking it. Since then it's all connected fine - it's just that the hi fi doesn't actually want to play my MP3s.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is an expensive bit of kit and I bought it mainly for DLNA!

EDIT1 : I've just checked through the manual again and spotted that "Cannot Play" means:

"The system cannot play a service or station due to an unsupported file format or playback restrictions."

This is a bit worrying. None of my 5k songs seem to play. They are -all- either ripped from my own CDs or purchased from Amazon, and they are all .mp3.

EDIT2: My files don't seem to have DRM, apparently. I've checked many, looking at the Details tab and checking for 'Protected' and they are all 'No'.

How can I rename my SA-NS410 speakers

I have setup my speakers using the iphone app after a couple of little niggle with my router all is Ok

My problem is that the are named SA-NS410 <last six digit of the mac>. On the adverts I've seen them named kitchen, living room etc....

Did I miss something in the setup?

Is there a way to rename them now they are configured?
