Non-Android TV stuck in reboot loop and ON/OFF power LED blinks 8 times (2012 Models)

You may be experiencing a rebooting loop on your TV - illustrated by the ON/OFF power LED blinking 8 times. This is affecting only 2012 Internet Internet TVs.

Some customers have reported the below instruction to potentially bring the situation back to normal.

Depending on how your TV is connected to the Internet, please use one of the following recovery methods:


Wired Ethernet LAN connections

  1. Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet
  2. Disconnect your Ethernet cable from the TV
  3. Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet
  4. Turn on your TV
  5. Perform a factory reset:
    • Press and hold the up arrow button on the remote control.
    • While holding the up arrow button, press and release the Power on button on the side of the TV.
      Reset will appear momentarily on the lower left hand corner of the TV
    • Release the up arrow button on the remote control and wait for the TV to reset
  6. After the Reset message appears, allow the TV to reset. Do not press any buttons on the remote control or on the TV and do not make any other adjustments for 1 minute.
  7. Upon completion, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet
  8. Allow the TV to remain without power for 10 seconds
  9. Reconnect your Ethernet cable to the TV
  10. Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet
  11. Turn on the TV.

    NOTE: The initial setup screen displays if the above procedures were performed correctly
  12. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial set up

    IMPORTANT: If the reset did not complete successfully, disconnect all devices from the TV, and then repeat the procedure from step 1.

Built-in Wireless LAN connections

  1. Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet
  2. Turn off your Wi-Fi router
  3. Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet
  4. Turn on your TV
  5. Perform a factory reset:
    • Press and hold the up arrow button on the remote control.
    • While holding the up arrow button, press and release the Power on button on the side of the TV.

    • Release the up arrow button on the remote control and wait for the TV to reset

  10. Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet
  11. Turn on the TV.

USB Dongle Wireless LAN connections

  1. Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet
  2. Disconnect your USB dongle from the TV
  3. Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet
  4. Turn on your TV
  5. Perform a factory reset:
    • Press and hold the up arrow button on the remote control.
    • While holding the up arrow button, press and release the Power on button on the side of the TV.
      Reset will appear momentarily on the lower left hand corner of the TV
    • Release the up arrow button on the remote control and wait for the TV to reset
  6. After the Reset message appears, allow the TV to reset. Do not press any buttons on the remote control or on the TV and do not make any other adjustments for 1 minute.
  7. Upon completion, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet
  8. Allow the TV to remain without power for 10 seconds
  9. Reconnect your USB dongle to the TV
  10. Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet
  11. Turn on the TV.

    NOTE: The initial setup screen displays if the above procedures were performed correctly
  12. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial set up

    IMPORTANT: If the reset did not complete successfully, disconnect all devices from the TV, and then repeat the procedure from step 1.
