Sony’s eBook Reader automatic update feature stopped - 1 April 2017

From April 1st, 2017, the automatic software update server for the Sony Digital Book Reader will be closed down.

However, you can still manually update the firmware or the Reader for PC / Mac application by downloading it from the Download section of this website.

Closing the automatic servers will end the following features:

• Updating the Reader for PC / MAC automatically via the Reader for PC / MAC*
• Updating the Reader for PC / MAC manually via Help of the Reader for PC / MAC*
• Updating the firmware via the Reader for PC / MAC*
• Updating the PRS-T2/T3 firmware via Wi-Fi*
• Installing the Reader for PC / MAC by using "Setup Reader for PC / Mac" file in the Reader device**
  

One of the following messages displays when you attempt to use the discontinued features:

For (*), the message is "There is no software needed to be updated"
For (**), the message is "A problem occurred while installing the software on your computer"
