How to set up a WWAN with Windows 7 network connections

Note:  this article provides specific instructions for setting up WWAN using Windows 7 Network connections.

To set up a WWAN connection for the first time

  1. Open Connect to a Network by right-clicking the network icon (  or  ) in the notification area.
  2. Select your mobile broadband network, and then click Connect. (Your mobile broadband may appear as Unnamed Network the first time.)

  3. If prompted, type your SIM card’s PIN code, and then click Continue.

  4. Change any Autoconnect settings that you want to change, and then click Continue.  

  5. You may receive an error about incorrect APN

  6. Click Close
  7. Open Connect to a Network by right-clicking the network icon (  or  ) in the notification area.
  8. Right-click your mobile broadband network, click Properties.

  9. Click the Profile tab and type the correct APN setting for your mobile broadband network. If you have any question about this, please contact your mobile operator.
 

To connect to WWAN

  1. Open Connect to a Network by right-clicking the network icon (  or  ) in the notification area.
  2. Click the name of your mobile broadband network, and then click Connect.
  3. Type your PIN, if necessary, and then press Enter.

To disconnect a WWAN connection

  1. Open Connect to a Network by right-clicking the network icon (  or  ) in the notification area.
  2. Click the name of the mobile broadband network, and then click Disconnect.
