What software do I use to transfer AVCHD movies to an Apple Macintosh computer?
To transfer AVCHD movies from the camera, use PlayMemories Home for Mac or iMovie 08 or higher.
If both AVCHD- and MP4-formatted movies are recorded, the AVCHD movies may not be recognized. If this happens, import all the MP4 movies to the computer and then delete them from the camera. Afterward, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable so the AVCHD movies can be recognized. With iMovie '11 (Ver. 9.0.1 or later), AVCHD movies are recognized even if multiple file formats exist on the camera.
IMPORTANT:
- The computer requires an Intel Core Duo processor or better to support AVCHD video.
- If iMovie software is not installed on your computer or you are trying to transfer 60p (1080 and 720) AVCHD video not supported in iMovie, alternative steps to copy the video from the camera are available.
NOTES:
- Update the Mac OS to its latest version (version 10.6.7 or later) if you are unable to import AVCHD videos with the iMovie.
