The charging status indicator lamps on the BC-SAD1 battery charger normally flash while the batteries are charging. This does not mean that the charger is defective.
If both lamps flash rapidly and the batteries do not charge, check the connected USB cable and power supply. This usually occurs when the USB cable does not meet the charger’s requirements.
What do the charging lights mean?
- Flashing: Charging is in progress.
- Lit continuously: Charging is complete.
- Both lamps flashing rapidly and no charging: Check the USB cable and power supply.
Use a compatible USB cable and power supply
To charge batteries correctly with the BC-SAD1 charger, use:
- A USB-C to USB-C cable that supports 45 W or more.
- A USB Power Delivery-compatible power supply with an output of at least 18 W.
For the best charging performance, particularly when charging two batteries, use a USB Power Delivery power supply with an output of 45 W or more.
Do not use a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable. This type of cable may cause both charging status indicator lamps to flash rapidly and prevent the batteries from charging correctly.
A high-wattage power adapter alone is not sufficient. The USB cable must also meet the BC-SAD1 charger’s requirements.
How to resolve rapid flashing
Follow these steps if the BC-SAD1 charging lights flash rapidly and the batteries do not charge:
- Disconnect the charger from the power supply.
- Remove all battery packs from the charger.
- Reinsert the battery packs securely.
- Connect a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports 45 W or more.
- Connect the cable to a USB Power Delivery-compatible power supply.
- Check the STATUS lamp and charging status indicator lamps again.
The STATUS lamp lights before charging begins. Charging starts after the STATUS lamp turns off. The charging status indicator lamps then flash to show that charging is in progress.
If the STATUS lamp does not light
Make sure that the battery packs are inserted securely into the BC-SAD1 charger.
If charging still does not start, confirm that:
- You are using a USB-C to USB-C cable.
- The USB cable supports 45 W or more.
- The power supply supports USB Power Delivery.
- The power supply provides an output of at least 18 W.
A power supply with an output of 45 W or more is recommended for the best charging performance. Charging may take longer with a power supply rated below 45 W, particularly when charging two batteries at the same time.
Good to know
- Both charging status indicator lamps may flash rapidly when an unsuitable USB cable is connected, even when no batteries are inserted.
- You can use a 65 W or 90 W USB Power Delivery adapter, provided that you also use a suitable USB-C to USB-C cable.
- The BC-SAD1 can charge two batteries at the same time. Charging may take longer when using a power supply rated below 45 W.
