Picture Freezes or Lags When Audio Enhancement (DSEE-HX) Is Turned On (Blu-Ray Players)
Applicable Products
- UBP-UX80
- UBP-X1000ES
- UBP-X800
Symptoms
When playing certain DVDs, you may notice that the picture freezes.
This happens specifically when Audio Enhancement (DSEE-HX) is set to ON.
Why This Happens
Some DVDs are created using a specific audio format combination:
- DTS 2.0 channel audio
- 48 kHz sampling rate
This audio format is not fully compatible with the DSEE-HX Audio Enhancement feature on these Blu-ray Disc players.
When DSEE-HX tries to process this audio signal, it can interfere with video playback — causing freezing or lag.
Solution: Turn OFF DSEE-HX
Disabling Audio Enhancement resolves the issue immediately.
- Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player
- Select Setup
- Go to Audio Settings
- Set DSEE-HX to OFF
