How to use the Wi-Fi Direct feature on a BRAVIA TV

Follow the steps below:

1. Enable the Built-in Wi-Fi setting on your TV.
   1. Open the Settings screen. How to access Settings
      • If the remote control has a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
        2. Select Settings.
      • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
   2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → change to On. (For Android™ 9 or later)
      • Select Network → Advanced settings → Built-in Wi-Fi → change to On. (For Android 8.0 or earlier)
2. Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct setting of the TV.
   Note: If your TV uses the Android 8.0 Oreo™ operating system (or later), skip this step.
   1. Using the TV remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Select Network in the NETWORK & ACCESSORIES category.
   4. Select Wi-Fi Direct, and change to On.
3. Display the TV's WPA key.
   1. Open the Settings screen. How to access Settings
      • If the remote control has a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
        2. Select Settings.
      • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
   2. Select Network & Internet or Network.
   3. Select Wi-Fi Direct.
   4. Select Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
   5. Select Show Network (SSID)/Password.
      
   6. The SSID and the WPA Key will be displayed on the TV screen.
   7. In the device Wi-Fi settings, select the SSID of the TV and enter the WPA Key displayed on the TV screen as the password. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.
      Notes:
      • Additional information is available if you need to change the device name or SSID of the TV.
      • If the connection is successful, the message Wi-Fi device is connected is displayed on the TV screen.

   5. Select Network.
   6. Select Built-in Wi-Fi.

2. Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct setting of the TV.
   1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Select System Settings.
   4. Select Set-up.
   5. Select Network.
   6. Select Wi-Fi Direct,
   7. Select On.
3. Display the WPA Key of the TV.
   1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Select System Settings.
   4. Select Set-up.
   5. Select Network.
   6. Select Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
   7. Press the Options button.
   8. Select Manual.
   9. Select Other Method.
      Note: The SSID and the WPA Key will be displayed on the TV screen.
   10. On the Wi-Fi setting of the Wi-Fi Direct device, select the SSID of the TV and enter the WPA Key displayed on the TV screen as the password. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.

Follow the steps below:

1. Enable the Built-in Wi-Fi setting on your TV.
   1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Select System Settings or Network.
      Note: If the TV shows Network, skip to Step 6.
   4. Select Setup.
   5. Select Wi-Fi Setup.
   6. Select Built-in Wi-Fi or Built-in Wireless LAN, and set it to ON.
2. Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct setting of the TV.
   1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Select System Settings or Network.
      Note: If the TV shows Network, skip to Step 6.
   4. Select Setup.
   5. Select Wi-Fi Setup.
   6. Select Wi-Fi Direct, and set it to ON.
3. Display the WPA key of the TV.
   1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
   2. Select Settings.
   3. Select System Settings or Network.
      Note: If the TV shows Network, skip to Step 6.
   4. Select Setup.
   5. Select Wi-Fi Setup.
   6. Select Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
   7. Press the Options button.
      
   8. Select Manual.
      
   9. Select Other Method.
      
   10. The SSID and the WPA Key will be displayed on the TV screen.
       
   11. On the Wi-Fi setting of the Wi-Fi Direct device, select the SSID of the TV and enter the WPA Key displayed on the TV screen as the password. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.

IMPORTANT: Some models require the UWA-BR100 USB Wireless LAN adapter to be connected to the TV to enable this feature. For model-specific information, check the specifications or supplied operations guide.

Follow the steps below:

1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Wi-Fi Direct or Wi-Fi Direct Mode.
   
4. Connect the Wi-Fi Direct device to the TV. For details, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.

If Wi-Fi Direct connection fails, follow these steps:

1. Press the Options button.
   
2. Select Manual.
   
3. Select either WPS or Other Methods.
   
   • For WPS (Push Button) connection
     • On the device, go to the wireless network setting screen, select WPS (if capable, for automatic setup), or perform a scan to connect to the TV.
     • The WPS setting is not available on all Wi-Fi Direct-capable devices. Check the manual supplied with the device for information regarding the WPS setting.
   • Other Methods
     • The SSID and the WPA Key that appears on the TV will have to be entered into the device.
   For details on the Wi-Fi setting of the Wi-Fi Direct device, refer to Step 2. Connect a device to the TV and send content.

The following steps and images may differ depending on the Android mobile device being used. Refer to the operating instructions of the Android device for model-specific information.

To establish a connection with an iPhone or iPad, follow the steps below:

1. Select Settings → Wi-Fi, and turn it On.
2. Tap Direct-xx-BRAVIA on the mobile device’s screen to display the password input screen.
   
3. Enter the WPA key (password) displayed on the TV screen, then tap Join.
   
4. Allow a few minutes for the connection to be established, and for the Settings screen to appear.
   If a checkmark is displayed at SSID on the mobile device side and a dashed line is displayed on the TV side, the connection is established normally.
   
   
   
   
   Note: If a connection is not established, re-attempt the steps above and make sure that the WPA Password is entered correctly.

Once the setup is complete, media can be shared between the mobile device and the TV using applications such as iMediaShare software. The display screen may differ depending on the OS version. The following is just an example. For details about settings on the computer, refer to the product manual of the computer.

1. On the computer Start menu, select Control Panel.
   Note: If you do not see Control Panel on the Start menu, type Control Panel into the search box on the taskbar, and then select Control Panel.
2. Select Network and Internet. (Select Category on View by setting if not displayed)
   
3. Select Connect to a network.
   
4. Select DIRECT-xx-BRAVIA or the SSID displayed on the TV.
   
5. Select Connect.
   
6. Input the WPA key which is displayed on the TV into the Security key window and select OK.
   Note: The WPA key is case sensitive so please make sure to type the key exactly like it is shown on the TV, including the lower or upper case letters.
   

You can also connect TV and computer via Wi-Fi Direct (WPS PBC) if the device support WPS.

1. Select MENU → (Network) → View on TV → then, select the TV.
2. When you want to play images using a slideshow, press the center of the control wheel.
