Peripherals not charging via USB on a Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 PC
It has been discovered that some products may not charge properly when attached to a USB port of a computer running the Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 operating systems.
Affected Sony Products
- Cyber-shot® Cameras
- Handycam® Camcorders
- Action Cam (including Live-view Remote Control)
- Headphones
- Head Mounted Display
- Portable Headphone Amplifier
- Portable battery
Issue Cause
This issue appears to be due to a change to the USB interface specification in the Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems. It does not occur with computers running Windows 8 or earlier versions of the Windows operating system.
Resolution
Microsoft has issued a driver update through Windows Update to fix this issue. If your PC is set to update automatically with Windows Update, no additional steps are needed. However, if your PC does not install Windows Updates automatically, or if you still experience this isue, you can search for help and drivers on the Microsoft Support Website.
