The YouTube voice search microphone icon is missing on my TV. How do I get it back?

    How to make the YouTube microphone icon appear on your TV again

    If the YouTube microphone icon is missing on your TV, follow the steps in this article: 

    1. Confirm that your TV model is listed under "Affected TV models".
    2. Turn on the TV's built-in microphone.
    3. Restart the YouTube app.

    Affected TV models

    Confirm that your TV model is listed below: 

    • Sony’s 2022 Google TVs: X94K X93K X92K X82K A84K A83K X89K X81K
    • Sony’s 2021 Google TVs: Z9J, X95J, X94J, X93J, A90J, A84J, A83J

    Turn on the TV's built-in microphone 

    The microphone icon in the YouTube app will only show if the built-in microphone on the TV is turned on. You can turn on the built-in MIC by using the switch on the TV. Please refer to your TV's Reference Guide for the location of the switch. You can find your TV's Reference Guide in the "Manuals" section of Sony's support website.

    Notes:

    • The built-in MIC on the TV may not be available depending on your region/country/language.
    • If you have a Google TV, you must be logged in to your Google account to use the Voice Search function.

    Restart the YouTube app

    Once the built-in MIC is on, restart the YouTube app. You can do this in two ways:

    1. Perform a Soft Reset on your TV: 
      • Press and hold the POWER button on the remote control until the TV shuts down and restarts.
        OR
      • Press and hold the POWER button on the remote control until a menu appears on the screen, then select Restart.
    2. Restart the YouTube app:
      • Go to: SettingsApps → YouTubeForce StopOK.
      • Select Open to open the YouTube app.
