No sound via optical cable on my Bravia 7 / 8 / 9 TV: how to enable optical audio

    If you've connected an audio device like a soundbar or headphones to your new BRAVIA 7, 8 or 9 TV series using an optical cable, you may notice that the sound isn't playing as expected. 

    Starting with the 2024 TV line-up, the optical out is disabled by default. However, you can easily enable the optical out in the audio menu.


    How to enable the Optical Digital Audio output for BRAVIA 7 / 8 / 9

    To enable the optical output on your BRAVIA TV, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Quick Settings button on the remote control
    2. Navigate to Settings
    3. Select Display & Sound
    4. Go to Audio Output
    5. Choose Optical Digital Audio Output Settings
    6. Toggle the Optical digital audio output to enable it
