Ralph Larmann describes himself as a performance photographer. Born in 1963, Larmann studied drums with focus on popular music at the Rotterdam Conservatorium. He played as a drummer in bands before he turned towards photography and journalism. Since the end of the 80’s he has captured countless concerts, celebrities, performances, architecture, events and many kinds of productions to create fascinating images in complex photo documentations on national and international stages.
In addition to his coffee-table-books STAGE DESIGN and STAGE DESIGN EMOTIONS, Ralph plays a key role in more than 20 illustrated books as a photographer, but also as a responsible producer. After the photo documentation for the official photo book “U2 360° - FROM THE GROUND UP” in 2009 and 2011 for the 360° world tour of the Irish band U2, Larmann also photographed the ROCK OR BUST world tour in 2015 for the band AC/DC in Europe, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. The first official photo book of the band AC/DC with Larmann’s photography entitled AC/DC ROCK OR BUST was released internationally in November 2017. Angus Young wrote into the book: “PERFORMING IN AC/DC IS MY LIFE'S BLOOD. THIS BOOK IS A WINDOW INTO THAT LIFE.” His latest works include the tour and live performances Ed Sheeran DIVIDE, Justin Timberlake MAN OF THE WOODS, Jason Derulo 2 SIDES, PUR & FRIENDS 2017, GAME OF THRONES Live Concert Experience, Michelangelo GIUDIZIO UNIVERSALE ROME, Imagine Dragons EVOLVE, BMW Four Cylinders Munich THE FUTURE IS ELECTRIC, The Ehrlich Brothers FAZINATION, MAYDAY 2018, EUROVISION SONG CONTEST LISBON 2018, PAROOKAVILLE 2017, Metallica WORLD WIRED, LOUVRE MUSEUM ABU DHABI GRAND OPENING, Robbie Williams THE HEAVY ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, The Weeknd STARBOY, LIGHT UP DUBAI 2018, Depeche Mode GLOBAL SPIRIT, Green Day REVOLUTION RADIO, U2 JOSHUA TREE and iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE, Drake THE BOY MEETS WORLD TOUR, ELBPHILHARMONIE Hamburg GRAND OPENING, Bruno Mars XXIV, Aerosmith AERO VEDERCHI BABY, Red Hot Chilli Peppers THE GETAWAY, Adele 25 and the opera CARMEN at the Bregenz Festival.
