"As a photographer I try to become invisible – I capture situations and moments and the less I am being noticed, the better the outcome."
Thomas Kakareko is one of the first photographers of a new generation of artists that grew up with social media. He switches easily from mobile street-photography to impressive, sophisticated compositions. His visual language is recognised due to its dark, almost black and white looking areas that are balanced with vivid, sparkling colours that skilfully push the spectator’s focus on the essence of the image. The possibilities of digital photography and of new media were acknowledged by Kakareko very early in his career. In addition to his photography, he pioneered other fields – as one of the founders of the very first Influencer Marketing Agency in Europe. For more than ten years the artist is showcasing is photographic work on his social media channels. Through consistently high quality output, he became one of Germany’s best known photographers. Having a following of almost a quarter of a million people on Instagram, the Berlin based artist is just as much of a success as many pop-stars – even though he prefers to stay invisible.
